Cut hair

Overdue pictures of Baby N cukur rambut and our house warming at LuLu.
I love the marhaban group. Mendayu dayu nyayiannya. You can email me if you want their contacts. I took them for my wedding also, before nikah.
The kelapa and the bunga with the telor(mengalahkan mcm org kawin) was done by my aunt.
Baby N's daddy was so overwhelm with the whole procedure.
I was asked to carry Ny and tawaf within the circle for the makciks to cut Ny's hair and Ny's daddy was asked to carry the kelapa, member asyik tanya, 'Betol ker I buat ni?'
We were then berarak to the multi purpose hall for the 'berayun' event. Nyla was placed in the crib and Adi and I was asked to swing the crib, the daddy monkey keep shaking his head.
and he whisper.... 'Ni baru cukur rambut, kalau si nyla ni kawin macam mana agaknya...' and he shake his head sambil hayun crib anaknya.......

The food was from Farah Diana Catering, we were satisfied with their service during our wedding.

The berkat - We use our left over berkat from the wedding cuma tukar tag ajer... hehehe... for the marhaban makciks we gave Daiso umbrella, $2 jer.
We have to purchase additional berkat coz Nyla's daddy monkey invited all his Facebook friends.
I was shocked at first, sebab member cakap
'Kita buat kecik kecik ajer lah yang, alah invite semua bukannya semua datang'
Amik kau.
The sistas rush to giant to purchase bottle POKKA tea, nasib ada additional tags so we just tie the tag around the bottkle neck.

Tuala Bag

We went to a wedding and received a really nice berkat (to me lah). Its a black matt paper bag. In it is a black cloth towel. Towel dia jenis bagus punya not the cheapo cheapo yang lap satu kali semua fibre dia terkeluar but the thick sedap kind.

The paper bag is thick and sturdy with ribbons handle. To me its really nice. Simple and nice.

Birthday Party

I received emails for contacts to rent candy floss and popcorn machine.
My advice is for you to get quotation from your caterer, some caterer bleh carikkan and absorb a small amount for the rental of the popcorn and candyfloss. But if your caterer quote price yg very ridiculous, cekek duit orang, I think its wiser to go direct to the main source.

Tags and Stationary

I decide to use the pink lace. Initial plan was to use the purple 'fred perry' design but sis was saying it doesnt go well with the decor. So we decide to use the sweet lace. Datin suaka sangat. But I find it too girrrrlllyy.

I get the stickers from Risin Internation Pte Ltd at a very very good deal. For the take away boxes. I actually need only 300, but they dun take in small quantity. I asked for 500 intend to paste the remaining 200 stickers at the nasi bungkus paper bag. But when I went over to the office to collect the stickers imagine my surprise that they gave me 1000 pieces for the same price I paid for 500 pieces.
1000 pieces for $50. 1 piece $0.05.
Online they will state 500 pieces for $50 but if the size of your sticker is small they will fold it into 2. They have online template for you to choose from, ada circle, oval, rectangle, square, heart. I opt for square, hassle free, habis citer. Ni lagi 500 stickers ni mana I nak tampal? Kalau nak tampal kat envelope invitation card mcm sayang, nak tampal kat tangan ker, dahi ker, muka my anak anak sedara lagi sayang... jadi org tau budak budak yang main kat palyground tu datangnya dari orang kawin kat block situ. Macam trademark ah. Sigh dah ting tong agaknya si dekni. Tgk lah nanti mana I tampal stickers2 ni. Quality wise was good, they use glossy paper and the printing was ok. No complaint.

The thank you tag, name card size, will be tied to the berkat. Best deal is from AcidPrint.
1000 pieces of the tag is $60. 1 piece is $0.06.
Then pandai pandai you punch the paper sendiri to tie to the berkat. Quality wise so so. Not glossy. Just like a normal name card quality. They use 225gsm white card. Size 90mm x 54mm.

The berkat and Chinese take away boxes rocks!

I still find chinese take away boxes rocks!!! They are so stylo and you can place anything in them from telor asin, Hershey nuggets, Hershey kisses, Ferrero rocher, among other things.

Kalau you intend to place chocolates in them, go get it from Walson. They are chocolate supplier, much much cheaper than sheng shiong and Mustafa centre. For telor asin, sorry I tak ader lubang for cheap rates. Tapi try pasar geylang or this pasar at bedok yg jual jual telor.

For the take away boxes themselves, if you intend to buy in big bulk I suggest you get some quotation from alibaba.com. Ordering them from China are so much cheaper.
A company quoted me the following:-

1 no of take away boxes - USD 0.24 per piece so convert to SGD 0.34.
Shipping for 1000 pieces via UPS - USD 70 so convert to SGD 99.40
So on average 1 box will cost you SGD 0.4394
The only disadvantage is that you have to fold the paper box and place the metal handle urself.

Tapi kalau you all dun trust all this China product, takut tak sampai ker, takut hilang di laut ker, takut sesat diudara ker you can order your boxes at divinefavours

They are charging the black take away boxes for SGD0.55 inclusive of personalized stickers
Their service is tip top, fast to reply to enquries and with a charge they will send the item right up to your door steps. Plus point, ALL the boxes have been folded siap ngan handle skali. Easy breezy, tinggal nak taruk barang jer. You can also order stickers from them. Just choose your choice of pattern and they will customize it for you

Mid Year

Updates:

I've finalized on my berkat. Deposit paid. Delivery will be in November 2010. I will need all the manpower in the world to help tie the ribbons and include the tag.

Mum dearest had passed all the 24 tepung tawar berkat to me. I have placed them in the box (box beli kat bangkok, $0.15 jer, murahkan, tau beli satu kotak) tinggal nak wrap and include the white, red and black tag.

Mummy yam, my aunty, will be sponsoring my nikah berkat. The dad insist on an old skool berkat, u noe glass, bunga, pulut kuning and the red telor. Very old skool right, I made a face when he proposed dat.

I bought additional 300 boxes, incase tak cukup. Tau lah org og senior, suka sangat kasi berkat berlebih lebihan.

I am done with the designing of the tagging and the stickers, tinggal nak print jer. Tunggu duit GST ah July baru go order.

Ok now, berkat dah settle.

Meeting the Jentayu people on 5 July 2010 to finalise on the theme and colour. Hati berkenan kat Kraton, tapi dah ader org chop, Tsk. Takder rezeki.

Berkats

On leave today, all the walking at Jalan carik kain streets had done a massive damage to my leg muscle and the stamina. My whole body was aching. Mcm lari marathon pulak.

So since tak kerja and malas nak update report. I had surf some websites for berkats. I am still clueless on what berkats to kasi. And since it’ll be from my own pocket, I wanted something that I want, and not what I think my mother or my aunties would want. I want something practical yet tasteful, something chic yet tradition, something cheap wold be an added bonus.

I was surfing around some kakak kakak kawin blogs when I saw this, Yasin dan doa doa.jatuh cinta lah babe. Perfect. Just need to do a little more research.

Initial plans were to give botol coke tapi nanti dah macam sama macam a certain cousin. Later people say got no originality pulak. But it was nice, you know the coke bottle or the pokka teas. You wrap it with organza. Voila. Cheap oso. Or if you want to save cost just tie a ribbon at the bottle neck.

Next plan nak kasi Pringles. That potato chips in the bottle. Yg pendek punyak. I had managed to get quite a good deal from the whole saler. Good price. But one of my aunty say tak halal. So once mum heard tak halal, plan kena reject. Walson quoted quite ok price for ferrero, toblerone and some other brands.

Mum intend to kasi tuala. Practical yes, but a tad common but still nice.

Edible berkats are also nice to look at esp the cupcakes and the macaroons.
Or you can buy nice looking boxes like these and put kisses or chocolate nuggets in them. Check out sgweddingfavours.
